What real demand sounds like
Look for willingness-to-pay signals: existing spend, a budget line, a known approval process, or a clear “we already pay $X for Y, but it fails when…”. Also note urgency: deadlines, revenue impact, compliance risk, or repeated operational pain.
Red flags to take seriously
Be cautious when you hear polite interest (“sounds cool”), vague pain (“it’s kind of annoying”), or “I would use it” with no recent example. If people can’t name the last time it happened, it’s usually not a priority.
